50 Universal Truths about Men

1. Why should I remind you that “I love you?” I already told you once.

2. I’ll do anything for sex; even commit to you for life.

3. I hate arguing with you. I’d much rather find a compromise.

4. I love long hair. Sorry, but I do.

5. When you speak softly, I can’t help but listen.

6. I need to be told “no” sometimes. Not a lot, but every now and again reminds me that you are expensive.

7. Please don’t ask me how you look unless you’re willing to trust my answer.

8. My eyes notice other women a lot more when you are upset with me.

9. When you’re happy with me I can’t help but want to please you.

10. If I don’t feel I can make you happy, it makes me feel less than a man.

11. I expect you to be ready when I pick you up.

12. Cigarettes make any woman look cheap and easy.

13. I'm scared if I let a woman inside my heart, she'll take advantage of me.

14. If you can’t stand up to me when I’m a brat, you’re too weak for me to open up to when I’m upset.

15. Sitting quietly next to me after you’ve made me a meal is your get-out-of-the-doghouse-free ticket. You’ll be surprised how quickly I can forgive.

16. You did something hurtful. If I never bring it up, I’m considering leaving you.

17. I don’t read minds. Remember, I’m not a girl.

18. You may know fashion, but I wish you’d dress to please me, not other women.

19. If I’m losing my hair, it’s not funny. Would you like me to joke about your weight?

20. When I talk to you about golf and you act bored, it would be nice for you to remember all the times I listened to you talk about what is important to you.

26. I need some type of signal or cue to walk across the room and approach you. What if you’re married!?

27. It makes me feel like you trust me when you ask for my advice.

28. It feels competitive when you insist on being in charge.

29. Being respected is more important to me that being loved.

30. I want every guy to envy me when we arrive as a couple. Please don’t let yourself go.

31. When I’m upset I am very tone sensitive. How you say it is more important that what you say..

32. I hate it when you minimize/ignore my compliments. It makes me what to stop giving them.

33. I’m more insecure than you think. Why do you think I need your respect so much?

34. I don’t always know how I feel. That’s why I don’t tell you.

35. I don’t need you to do things for me. What I crave is being able to please you.

36. If I do one thing and say something contradictory – Go with my actions, that will always tell you what’s in my heart.

37. I find myself wanting to please you when you simply smile at me without asking for something. (Like a favor).

38. I really don’t want to hear about any of your ex-boyfriends, regardless of the point.

39. If I don’t share what I’m thinking it’s because I don’t think you will listen without interrupting.

40. I don’t like to argue and I don’t like to guess what’s wrong. Just tell me so I can fix it.

41. I love it when you put your hair in a pony tail. Yes, it’s a Freudian thing.

42. Don’t ask me, “Are you going to wear that?” when I’m already dressed.

43. A gentleman should always be respected by his lady in public, even if she is disagreeing with him.

44. If you don’t believe you’re pretty , you won’t believe me when I tell you, no matter how many times I say it.

45. It isn’t how much you weigh; what's attractive is whether body is proportionate.

46. Sometimes I have weird and strange thoughts. I don’t take them seriously and I don’t want to share them with you (or anyone).

47. Sometimes you really don’t want to know what I’m thinking. See above.

48. If you cheat on me, it is nearly impossible for me to get over it.

49. I don’t remember everything about our relationship and that doesn’t mean I don’t love you.

50. I need some time to myself to calm down when I’m upset so that I don’t say something I will regret.

Effects of sleep deprivation

because of the stress from school, my blockmates and i lack the enough time for sleep...and it is bad!

Studies have shown that the optimum amount of sleep a person should get each night is seven to eight hours. Sleep deprivation has a definite effect on learning, memory, and the ability to think clearly. If a person is not able to get a full night’s sleep after learning something new, he will not remember the new knowledge well. He will not fully assimilate the new ideas or task until he is able to go through a complete night of uninterrupted sleep cycles.

Different parts of the brain are rested and regenerated during different phases of sleep. During some phases of sleep, the neurons in the cerebral cortex regenerate. If sleep is interrupted so that this regeneration cannot occur, speech may be affected, since the temporal lobe of the brain is what controls speech. People who do not get enough sleep often have slurred speech. There is also measurably less activity in their temporal lobes than in those of well-rested people.

During REM sleep, memories are consolidated and categorized by the brain. New synaptic connections are also formed during REM sleep, aiding learning. If REM sleep is cut short, long-term memory may be affected and new knowledge might not be retained. Conversely, short-term memory might be better in the sleep deprived person because the part of the brain that controls short-term memory has never gone off-line, and the memories are still fresh.

Sleep deprived people are much more accident-prone than well-rested people. This is partly due to the person being groggy or sleepy due to lack of rest. It is also partly due to the fact that sleep deprived people tend to fall into sleep for very brief periods at unforeseen times. These brief periods of sleep are the body’s way of making up for its lack of sleep the night before. This is especially serious if the person is driving a car or operating a piece of machinery.

The person deprived of sleep will find it difficult to concentrate. This will affect his performance at work and at household tasks. The person will also experience a lack of energy. He might not have the energy to complete everything he has to do during the day. The sleep-deprived person is likely to be quite irritable. This irritability is likely to damage both personal and business relationships.

Lack of sleep has several physical effects also. People who are chronically short of sleep have a tendency to gain weight. This weight gain can cause or exacerbate heart disease and diabetes. The body of a sleep deprived person produces less growth hormones, meaning that a sleep-deprived child might not grow and develop as he should. The immune system is weakened since the body has not had the chance to rest and repair itself.

After several weeks of severe sleep deprivation, a person might start seeing hallucinations. People have died of severe sleep deprivation in as little as four to five weeks. Sleep is as essential to the body and the mind as air and water.

Reminiscing Web Design..

today, its a Saturday...free cut from business law..my blockmates and i planned to attack sir yuv..because we want to surf the net desperately..we were currently deprived of that luxury...so we thought of going to the e-business lab, but they said that sir buen is having his class there..so we went to the 3rd flr, at the computer lab and look for sir yuv..but still he wasn't there...we asked the janitor about entering the room, but i think he rejected the idea..

so while waiting outside the computer lab, there was the ipis incident of tibi....and then we were able to go inside the computer lab...after a few minutes of laughter (still because of the ipis incident), there was a loud rumbling coming from the wall...and the wall was suddenly cracking...and we were screaming (most of us!)...and there stood sir yuv together with his 3rd year students!!!!

haha..anyway sir yuv is so kind to accomodate us in his class even though we're just there to bum..and to surf the net..i remember those days when we were still taking our webdesign class every friday..from 12 nn to 5pm...before, we used to despise the fact that we have a five-hour class...but at the end of the semester that was our favorite subject of all time!!!!!!!!!

because of that class, my blogger account was born..as well as other accounts from explode, elggspaces, mybloglog, technorati....

so today, we are reminiscing the "feel" or the "ambience" of our 5-hour webdesign class..how i wish we'll have another class where we could just surf the net while learning!

Louis Vuitton ads..

whenever i browse through fashion magazines like Vogue, InStyle, Preview and Mega, the whole package would never be complete without a Louis Vuitton ad. Most of the time, i noticed that LV ads are placed either in the first page (the moment you open the cover of the mag) or at least within the first 10 pages..

anyway, i simply adore LV ads. Everytime i see those ads, my mouth just waters with the handbags modeled! the words coming out of my mouth are ''WOW!", "Oh my God!", "Ang ganda!"...waah..can't help but drool on those bags! And daydream, when in the future would i be able to buy an LV bag!

what does it take to be a model or spokesperson for LV? How will the ads be?

Before (2003), Louis Vuitton or any other luxury brands do not use Hollywood celebrities to advertise their products, instead they use supermodels. For example at this ad, British supermodel Gemma Ward was chosen to be the one!
And then the celebrity trend of endorsers started with Scarlett Johannson, Christina Ricci and Jennifer Lopez. JLo's ad were viewed as very sensual, the ones with the male model Andres Segura.

then, there was Uma Thurman, and surprisingly a male celebrity for LV which is Pharell Williams (wearing a wig!)...what the..?

When supermodel Kate Moss had a cocaine scandal in 2005, LV helped in making her comeback at the fashion world, through an ad of course! Here she was, modeling the (then) latest collection of LV bags with leopard prints..

My favorite LV ads were from last year's, this time with Brazilian supermodel, Gisele Bundchen, who is an ex-girlfriend of Leonardo Di Caprio by the way. Anyway i love this ad because of the rich colors of the ad. It simply signifies summer!

And last but not the least, the current LV ad featuring one of my favorite Hollywood actresses, Scarlett Johansson. It looks really girly because of the color pink, and kind of cherubic!

i noticed that LV ads always evoke sophistication, glamour, elegance and fashion itself. Anyway for more about LV, check out Tibi's blog.

Lip gloss addiction!

well not everyone notices my addiction..but i am really addicted to lip glosses..and not just to ordinary lip glosses in the market..i am addicted to the ones that are ridiculously expensive..i know that may sound absurd to many...you know, spending unreasonable bucks for a lip gloss! how crazy! but well, that's me...can't help it..it is totally better to be addicted with lip gloss rather than with drugs right?

anyway like i said, i am willing to spend big bucks just for a tube of a good quality lip gloss..and i actually know a few ones in the market(a little expensive)with superb quality...

my favorite lip gloss of all time is DuWop's Venom Gloss..

it has this stingy feeling when you apply it for the first time, but after a few uses, your lips will get used to the stingy feeling. This lip gloss is described as "to enhance your lips". it costs about P900..

Next is Lancome Juicy Tubes. I try to use this lip gloss occassionally because this is the most expensive that i have bought so far. i have one in fraise (strawberry), and its quite good. It stays on your lips for hours. The one that i bought has glitters so its too fancy to be used for school!

While Rosel and I were strolling at BeautyBar, i came across this lip gloss..or (the label said) lip plumper, i was attracted by the nice reddish color (the fifth in the picture) and tried it on. It has the same stingy feeling that Duwop Venom gloss has, but this one is stronger! I also noticed that its not so sticky like other lip glosses. I wanted to buy it but when i saw the price (P995), WAAH! wla akong budget!

Clinique Impossibly Glossy Lip Gloss..without looking at the tag price i knew that this one is expensive..since this brand is exclusively available at Rustan's only..and hello can you find something cheap at Rustan's?
so about the lip gloss, this one's intended for those who have sensitive skin..that's why their products are fragrance-free..anyway, i just love the color of this gloss...but i don't adore the price!but who knows?Pag tinopak ako, i will buy one! hehe
Rosel tried one too, and it looks good on her, so with that i guess if you have the funds, there would not be any hesitations on buying this one!

Forced marriages, my favorite koreanovela theme.

i have always been fond of watching korean dramas or koreanovelas because of the funny antics of the main characters, the catchy story lines, and its wholesome package. i started watching out for new koreanovelas after i watched Lovers in Paris years ago.

i have noticed in some of koreanovelas i have seen, they tend to have the "forced marriage" formula into the story. And i find myself putting these dramas with "forced marriage" on my favorite list of kdramas.

Sweet 18 is about the story of a high school student named Yoon Jung Sook (Han ji hye) who was bethroted to the prosecutor Kwon Hyuk Joon. They are both from 2 traditional clans, who planned their marriage to strengthen the relationship of those two clans.

Full House is about an aspiring writer, Han ji eun (Song hye kyo) who returned from China without knowing that her best friends sold her house. And the one who bought it was the superstar, Lee Young Jae (Rain). Since she has no assets left, she had a contract marriage with Lee Young jae so that she could still hold on to her house which is the only thing that her father left her.

Sassy girl chunhyang is the modern interpretation of the Legend of Chunhyang. It is about two high school students, Lee Mong ryong (Jae hee) and Sung Chun hyang (Han chae young) who were forced to marry each other because they spent a night with each other. They were still forced to marry each other even though nothing happened that night.

Princess Hours is about an ordinary high school girl, Shin Chae-gyung (Yoon eun hye) who found herself bethroted to the Crown prince of Korea, Shin (Joo ji hoon). Shin's grandfather (the king) and Chae-gyung's grandfather (a servant) formed a friendship, and because of that, they decided their grandchildren to marry each other. Their marriage also celebrated the friendship between their grandfathers.

Well..if you have seen these dramas, then you could relate with me..All of them are pretty much the same with the "forced marriage" as the main focus of the stories. if you think about it, here in the Philippines, i don't think forced marriage happens that much(except for the chinese community). i have not really get to meet a Filipino who is involved in a forced marriage.

these korean dramas attract me to watch them because i want to see how the characters would fall in love with each other. and because of that, my fondness for koreanovelas grew because of my interest in this "forced marriage" formula.

High heels that are too high!

Ordinary people like me, wear heels when the event calls for it, like formal functions or any event that would require you to be dolled up. But i found these photos of the Olsen twins from people.com, wearing really high heels. As you can see in the photos, they look like they were running domestic errands, wearing HIGH heels! lol

well, i don't know if i would admire or criticize these people from wearing those kind of shoes. I could admire them for being able to wear heels on a daily basis, not everyone could do that (I am one of those). But i could also criticize them for wearing those heels and trying to look tall! And do their heels look that good?

I am scared for both of them. One wrong step, and both of them are dead!

Ashley Olsen, Mary kate's twin, also wearing (very high) heels:

Here are additional photos of Hollywood celebs, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani, wearing 6-inches heels!

Princess Hours curiosity..

right now i love watching Princess Hours every night (except for the long commercials in between!). and since our dvd player is a wreck, i really don't have any choice but to watch it at night. anyway, i was curious about it so while surfing the net, i searched for an image of Yoon Eun Hye (janelle). and goodness, i was shocked to see some daring photos of her. very far from her sweet and bubbly character in princess hours!

take a look!

this is her "sweet and wholesome" look from princess hours..

and these were (maybe) her fashionista side..

and these were the daring ones..
